Because... Fine.
It was the first day of high school as the freshmen AJ and Jack walk in. By the looks of it, it was your regular old high school filled with goth music lovers and male whores and, not to be forgotten, the 'populars'. Known through middle school as the 'Lova', Peter 'the pimp' Miranda seemed to flirt with every girl he passed by. Then there were the hookers, Taylor was first on the list to talk to 'The Pimp'. Some say they had **** in elementary school, others say she was raped by him, either way, she rubbed her math ruler like she would use it as a ****** that night. Jack and AJ both were on the football team in middle school, both known by their powerful arms and quick speed. After 'the incident', which was a complete failure, AJ stole Jack’s girlfriend and then they shortly broke up afterwards. But now they are best friends and told each other that they would drown in Mountain Dew after the first day. And as they say, first days for 'noobs' are always terrible. Soon it became clear that it would soon be correct.
A sudden pain in Jacks arm made him wince. The school’s 'Ninja' decided to make an enemy on the first day by taking his scissors and making his mark. After challenging "ooooos" and "ha ha bring it."s, Charles Kays whipped out a collapsible staff, his 'weapon of choice'. As soon as his groupies forcefully made a ring of students, neither student nor teacher could stop the duel which was quickly started, soon the circle of students had become a dueling ring of madness.
It became clear that his popularity had to be increased with his 2vs1 tactic. Sadly, his groupies decided that it would be different and that they wanted to have some popularity as well. Making it a 6vs2, the 6th groupie got his challenge bell and howled out the rules. Before AJ knew it, his foot was kicking someone’s crotch and his fist in another’s face. 'DING' the bell rang as one of his assistants fell to the ground. Jack swore to himself that he would get revenge on the main. A fast Roundhouse kick to the face sent the 'Ninja' sprawling. 'DING DING' the bell sounded as two more groupies clambered out of the ring of screaming students and teachers, soon joined by police trying, but failing, to get into the ring. A fatal blow to the knee sent the bell dinging again. The halls were filled with screaming and blue and red lights by the cop-cars outside. A 2vs1 tactic soon came into play as 'DING' was heard through the halls. Taking out his staff, Charles wasn't about to go down. Quick as lightning, he blocked to bleeding fists randomly thrust his staff out and powerfully slammed what ever was in his way to the ground.
AJ woke up in the hospital after 2 hours of a coma. All he knew is that Allison, Jack's and AJ's ex. stopped the fight somehow. AJ went down in agony after his 2vs1 tactic. Kicking forward, Jack made a face impact kick into Charles face, sending the loser into the crowd.
Besides the fights and tongue lashings from Jacks mom, the first day was alright. The groupies all were limping at school and Jack had to get stitches. '...Speaking of tribal wars, did you hear about the bloody war in Donoley Castro High school? The crowds around the 8 students were so thick that the neither police nor teachers could get through to the fight. All 8 were injured, one went to the hospital over a cracked head with a wooden staff, the attacker, Charles 'The Ninja' Kays was the starter of this useless fight, no comments. Now here’s Josh with the forecast...' The news was buzzing about that fight, AJ agreed that it was useless, but that’s high school for ya. Jack and AJ both rode up in their ATVs, soon after they saw Charles sprinting to school. He does that every day in case he was ever attacked.
Everyday, there would be 15 minutes before some classes, AJ went straight to math, Jack waited for 15 for science. The parking lot was filled with girls and only a few guys. Last years football team decided to have a reunion, which included Peter, 'The Pimp' has left the building. Usually everyone looked at Charles in either lust or envy; no one looked at him today. As AJ went inside, Jack could hear the halls go quite. Sighing, Jack decided to go to the back of the school.
AJ could notice the fear in most of the students, mainly in the groupies. As AJ walk by, Charles hissed. Trying to ignore him, he walked onward. He tried to walk into class behind the group to not get noticed but failed."Good morning class. We have a freshman in the room so we'll introduce him." The teacher looked at AJ, and he started to get up. All the laughing and gossiping was at a hold. While everyone was staring at the freshman in a hoodie, the teacher stated "We hope you will fit in.". As AJ sat down a student rushed into the room. "Glad you could join us Ben. Ben is a exchange student from Australia. As you will to AJ, be nice." AJ looked around the room and sighed when he saw that the seat to his left was the only one open. "Hallo." Ben said with a heavy Australian accent. R.E.G was written on his shirt. AJ didn't know what it meant but he seemed like he followed it by answering most of the questions.
When jack got behind the school he saw a very tall tree and under there, two girl sitting under benches. On their shirts they had R.E.G., which stood for Read Education and Grammar. Everyone knew and called them Regs, standing for their 'club' and that they were regular people. After staring at them for a minute, another student came out wearing the same shirt. He looked Australian so Jack left to the front of the building.
80 Days Later
The day drew on, slowly but surely. Most of the time AJ scribbled down pictures describing his thoughts at the moment, other times he was either looking at people or looking at people looking at him. Math was never a 'fun' subject for him, the dots, the lines, the numbers and shapes never aroused his interest. It was a hard three months since had been Jack had been killed in an alley. Police wrote it off as gang violence, but some people thought differently. Those some people were the R.E.G.s, Reading, Education and Grammar. Months ago they were a school program but that was months ago. They were now a gang, a cult, a group that stroke fear in anyone who dared question them. Even the teachers were under their spells, their mind control. R.E.G.s leader was a Australian exchange student who went by the name of Ben, of course, his name could be anything, knowing him. Ben had a dark silence that spoke for itself, but you would know he knew something when he did speak. In this case, Ben spoke when Jack had died, he knew something. AJ knew he knew something. Something.
---AJ snapped back to reality knew the crimson school bell rung; the sound went through the halls and through the rooms. Some kids sprung up and darted out the door, others more casually picked up their books and walks out. AJ just sat there, the noise still ringing in his ear, continuing without a reason. He got up and sighed. Only he was in room, the 30 something teacher was probably already in her car by then. The idea of walking into a hallway full of careless teenagers did nothing for him. Though he rendered himself useless, women thought he was everything they needed in a man. That information spread to the ears of men and jealousy took its toll. He breathed in, opened the door, and walked out.
---Women licked their lips, men gritted their teeth, and AJ just raised an eyebrow and kept walking. Most highschoolers would go home or hang with friends, he just went to a rundown playground near a busy street. He only still went there because of a certain swing set, the build was the whitest of whites, yet the seat was the darkest of blacks. Both colors seemed to have no color what so ever, yet it was there. The leaves had gone away but the trees remained, it was the end of December, close to new years but after Christmas.
---The abandoned playground wasn't so abandoned today. Some children here and there, parents stood off to the side and talked, sometimes giving a glare at AJ. Of course, they would get a glare back. AJ's eyes were dry and red, he had been crying earlier that day because of two reasons. First reason: His girlfriend had broken up with him. Two days from now would be their 7th month. He had gotten her a necklace made of 2ct diamonds, now he has no one to give it to. Second reason: Jacks mom sent out invitations for his funeral. AJ was actually surprised; Jacks mom never really liked him or Jack. He would have never thought she would have a funeral for Jack.
---He decided that the kids on the playground were making to much noise, so he got off the swing and left. He could swear he heard a sigh come from the parents. It was only half past four, three hours and thirty minuets until state curfew, meaning he had to be home before eight or he would be arrested for five things he didn't do. He couldn't hang out with Alli, she was so heart-broken by Jacks death that she had a mental breakdown. 25 therapy sessions later they could take the handcuffs off at night. He didn't feel like going home, nothing but screaming and chores were in that household. He didn't want to go to the diner, because it was closed and was to close to the school. He decided to rent a nice tux for Jacks funeral, that walk wasn't far and he had some money on him. He hated just about everything about the town of Frances Valley. They only people making all the money was the corrupt Mayor and the guys who did breast implants. There were **** and lesbian couples everywhere, not that he had a problem with it though. He decided to pass the time by playing lesbian fingers. Every lesbian couple making out that passes by, he would hold up a different finger. He had gotten to 17 by the time he got to the tux rental. 8 of those tried to take his virginity, not one of them succeeded. Though just about every single 15 year old had lost their virginity, he was either saving for marriage or when the timing felt right. When he got there, the man behind the counter looked up from his work and said, 'AJ Sharp?'. Surprised he knew his name, AJ answered, 'Yes that’s me...'. The man stood up, he was black, about a head shorter than him, had a full goatee, his name tag said Jeffery, and he had a mechanical arm. Nothing like terminator, but just to replace a lost forearm and hand. Jeffery turned off his machine and handed AJ a black tux, a white tie, and a red undershirt. Thinking that his mother already ordered it, he reached for his wallet to pay. 'Actually this suit was already paid for.' said he. 'By whom?' AJ asked. Jeffery sighed and walked over, when he started typing his mechanical arm started whining like it needed oil. 'It says on here that a guy named Ben ******* paid for your order.'
Two days had passed since AJ had left the tux rental. He hung the mysterious red tux on his door, first checking the pockets for anything weird or obscure. The funeral was later that day; he was ready physically, but not mentally. Everything in his room reminded him of Jack, and there weren’t many things in his room. The hockey stick that broke 3 of Jacks teeth, the guitar AJ got from a concert they had both been at, the trophy they got at the carnival. AJ was happier back then, and that was a long time ago. He stumbled over a hat Jack gave him for his birthday, and he decided to put that in his casket. There was a ringing in the distance, the alarm he set for himself went off. He buttoned the last buttons on his tux and took his bike from the garage. The funeral was only five minutes away, making it pretty swift for him to get there. Not many people were there, Jacks mom and family, some school friends, and Ben. AJ’s first idea was to question Ben about the suit but he was intercepted by weeping friends. He looked over his shoulder and a trial of black cars headed by a red hearse. The hearse slowly came to a stop right in front of AJ.
If AJ wasn’t already suspicious, he is now. The colors of the casket were Black on the outside, white lining, and red on the inside, just like his tux. No one was told the colors of the casket, and even if someone was told, it wouldn’t have been Ben. Perhaps he’s over-reacting; perhaps it was just a lucky guess? Either way it was time to take his seat because the service was starting. The morticians did a wonderful job covering up Jacks bullet filled body. The only blunder was the obvious bullet hole on his forehead, so AJ decided to put the pinstriped fedora on him to cover it up. It looked as if he was resting. There were a couple of people who put some knickknacks and pictures in the coffin. AJ was staring off into the distance when he felt a hand on his shoulder. “Hello Mr. Sharp.” Ben said. Before AJ could react, Ben kicked him with full force and knocked him to the ground.
The second his back touched the ground, there was an explosion coming from behind and from the front. The coffin exploded and shards of wood and trinkets coated the area. His ear-drums were shot, he was pretty sure blood was gushing out. He tried to stand up but was knocked to the ground by a bullet. “What the hell is happening?!?” AJ started feeling around where he was shot. He wasn’t bleeding, he wasn’t even pierced by the bullet, the suit had stopped it. Ben climbed on top of AJ and slapped something in his ear. “Grade-A reinforced spiders silk.” Ben told him. He could hear again, and what he heard didn’t please him. Gun shots and screaming filled the air. Ben tugged him to his feet and sent a couple bullets at three guys aiming at them. Five more bullets hit AJ, and five more bullets were stopped by his suit. Before he could stabilize himself, a black Hummer drove in front of him and he was pushed in.
There were two husky guys in the front and passenger seat. His vision was blurry and he couldn’t make out their complexions. The driver was black and was wearing Scottish hat. The man in the passenger seat was white and was shooting at some guys drawing near the car. Ben hopped in and handed him a napkin. “Here, wipe your face with this.” The napkin was damp, but he used it anyway. He started feeling tired, and shut his eyes.
Happy?
