The eyes can be a dead giveaway. Korean people have the slantiest eyes usually. They also seem to have the puffiest cheeks compared to the other Asian nationalities Chinese people typically have the roundest eyes, especially if they're actually Cantonese (the Southeast portion of China). Japanese - I actually never really been one's acquaintance in real life so I can't tell much...
The names can easily tell you the nationality too. Japanese ones have a really long names compared to Korean and Chinese people. Non-Western Koreans typically also seem to have first names comprised of like two different first names in one name (Sooyeon, Gwanmo, etc.) Non-Western Chinese people rarely have first or last names over two syllables long. Cantonese people typically seem to have two first names like Koreans do, but they typically include spacing (Cheau-Erl, Yuen Kwan, Li er, etc.). Meanwhile, while they aren't part of the question, if you see an "n" proceeding another consonant, it's probably a Vietnamese person (Ngoc, Nhien, Nguyen, etc). And all the Filipenos I know typically have Western sounding last names, because the Spanish took them over and forced it on them (like Capati, Ramierez, and Luz).
By the way, going to Engineering school where 4/5 of the do-able girls are some form of Asian, you tend to learn very quickly

That's a lie. I never seen any Filipino girl do that pose (I only know female Filipinos about my age). Most of them like to bend over and smile if they're planning a pose. Chinese is spot on. Korean, well, I only know one young Korean person and she doesn't do that.
