It was actually Russia. He attacked Moscow, in the middle of winter, and the inhabitants burned down the city. Their own city. Oh wait, you're talking about the Franco-Prussian war. Well, that wasn't as such a terrible loss as the other two.

I think the big one that most people forget about in terms of French Victories is the American Revolution. France actually essentially fought the war for America in many places. The textbooks generally downplay the role of France, but France was almost happy to back the United States because they now had a legitimate reason to attack England.

Well, we can talk about victories if ya want. :)

I was actually talking about Prussia was the greatest military power in Europe up until Napoleon. But ok.

Military power, that's all. During the last parts of its reign. The country was only around for a few hundred years and it was generally still part of Germany. France was more influential than Prussia, for a good deal of that time. And Prussia died. ;D
